I suggest you to perform the below methods and check if that helps. Method1 : Check for Windows Installer Service. Scroll down and find the Windows Installer. If the service is not already running, under Service status , click Start , and then click OK. Method 2: Perform Clean Boot- We can start Windows by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs.
This kind of startup is known as a " clean boot. Here is the link for your reference to perform clean boot and check if that helps. Note: Please go through the section: How to reset the computer to start as usual after troubleshooting with clean boot of the Kb article to boot the computer in normal startup after fixing the issue.

Contacted AOL and they were no help. This is 64 bit Windows Is AOL working on this. Any ideas? I even tried installing in"safe mode" and without antivirus or firewall. Note I checked and my system is clean. This thread is locked.

This did not work. Did not work using compatibility mode, did not work with Windows 10 in safe mode, did not work after a system clean reboot and reinstallation of Windows When will a fix be issued?
There are many Windows users that are waiting for this fix. Waiting for almost 5 months for Microsoft to issue a fix, what is the status on this? Has the problem been resolved yet? I believe it was more of a problem with AOL rather than Microsoft. AOL does have a beta program that they are working on, but that is full of bugs right now. I just hope they get it working as it should before they open it up to the public.
I have already done all of those things. I will not reinstall windows again. All my services are enabled and running. I have also tried installing in it compatibility mode to Windows 8, and have installed the AOL Beta version 9. I am open to suggestions that do not involve reinstalling windows again, as it did not fix the problem. I wrote them today and received this reply back. A subscription to make the most of your time.
